The reading of scripture today tells the story of the Israelites journey from Egypt to the promised land. It is told that the Israelites had walked through the wilderness Shur Desert for three days without finding water to drink. Finally, after moving the arrival at Mara, but unfortunate for them because the water there can not be drunk. The water was bitter taste. This makes the people began to grumble and blame God and Moses for bringing the They to die of thirst in the desert.
But the story does not end up here because at the next verses we find that after Moses prayed, God showed him a piece of wood where he was asked to throw the wood into the water so the water became sweet.
Need we realize together that life in this world we often pass with such a bitter taste of water in the Mara. A lot of pain and distress who throws. It may take the form of pain and disease problems caused by household is less attention and affection from both parents to the child or vice versa. Perhaps also it can be a financial issue because the debt which we have no idea how to pay it off in what way. Or it could be a problem of self image is damaged due to feelings of not having a job so called social pariahs. These things can take joy and hope. And when we respond may also have acted as the people of Israel are to blame and think of God as the party shall be responsible for all the suffering that we experience.
Then how the right attitude in the face of "bitterness" of this? Mentioned that the Lord finally bring relief by using a piece of wood. One thing that did not think of Moses and the Israelites at the time, but that's our Lord. He was too big for the small matter compared with what we consider great. Bitterness is not the end of another life because the Lord has provided "pieces of wood" as long as we believe in the power of the uterine ma maintenance. "Pieces of wood" has been available to change our life was bitter to be sweet.
